Quality Manager
About the Role
Responsible for managing a Quality Management System designed to monitor and measure the effectiveness of business and production processes to meet internal and external customer requirements. Leads Quality Engineers and Quality Supervisors in efforts to develop, communicate, and implement metrics to meet business and program objectives. Key stakeholder representing the company in customer and supplier relations related to quality and service.
Responsibilities
- Designs and implements a closed-loop, integrated, warranty analysis system utilizing current levels of technology that provides quick and efficient access to warranty data for all.
- Provides leadership for the analysis team to achieve a high rate of root cause identification in warranty products to reduce warranty expense and quantity of “no trouble found” results.
- Reviews analysis results with customer counterparts to ensure that the root cause ownership is appropriately defined.
- Utilizes data obtained from the analysis process to drive improvement actions through the appropriate product team.
- Develops close working relationships with key customer counterparts.
- Responsible for development and adherence to the policies, procedures, and instructions of the Quality, MMOG, and ISO 14001 systems.

- Leads Product/Model PCP (Process Control Plan) development and maintenance.
- Facilitates cross-functional Preventative & Corrective action plans based on internal and external quality results (Yield, Warranty, and/or customer PPM).
- Conducts failure analysis on customer returns to ensure quick turnaround time and responsiveness.
- Mentors cross-functional teams (Process/Product Improvement teams) for effective “root cause” analysis, corrective, and preventative action.
- Trains other groups on a routine basis.
- Coordinates customer visits.
- Handles the QA portion of APQP (PPAP) on product launches.
- Resolves critical issues/situations, ensuring they are handled correctly and within current policy/procedure guidelines.
- Serves as the Quality representative in Lean activities.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages and directly supervises Quality Engineers and Quality Supervisors with a total of up to 25 non-supervisory employees in the Quality Engineering and Reject Repair departments. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational chart, company policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experienced in Tier 1 & Tier 2 Automotive, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and Customer/Supplier relationships.
Skills
- In-depth understanding and sound working knowledge of National and International Standards (e.g., ISO / AS / TS) and, where applicable, other Industry-related standards, including specific Customer requirements.
- Detailed knowledge of APQP / PPAP processes and tools.
- Ability to drive performance and improvements across a broad range of the business using quantitative methods.
Preferred Skills
- Extensive, in-depth knowledge of continuous improvement Methodology and a full range of problem-solving tools and methods, including advanced statistics and Total Process Control.
- Ability to design/develop tools and techniques for measuring systems and devices.
