Position Overview
SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job): Assists with the facilitation of the performance improvement and patient safety activities for the department in accordance with accreditation, regulatory and public reporting/quality measures.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree or graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience: Three years acute hospital care with understanding of performance improvement.

Essential Functions
- Facilitates and supports performance improvement and patient safety for assigned area to promote clinical excellence and patient safety.
- Understands data definition, abstraction and benchmarking requirements to facilitate meaningful data collection, interpretation and presentation.
- Screens charts for quality-of-care issues, and compliance with quality measures using pre-established criteria.
- Affords assistance in the identification of cases for review and education to promote quality of patient care.
- Affords assistance in the investigation of quality-of-care concerns for providers, payers and patients/ families.
- Affords assistance in the analysis and trending of data through review of reported events, case screening, and data abstraction.
- Prepares and designs meaningful reports that include statistical analysis, interpretation, monitoring and benchmarking of clinical data.
- Participates in multidisciplinary teams and collaborative projects to promote performance improvement and patient safety.
- Attends in-service training and seminars to maintain and improve knowledge of performance improvement methodologies and techniques.
