Quality Lead

About the role

The Quality Lead oversees and coordinates quality inspector duties, provides inspection support, and maintains the Quality Management System (QMS) and standardization of inspection methods, processes, and procedures in support of TSS Denver’s Vision–Mission–Values (VMV).

Responsibilities

• Oversees and coordinates quality inspector staff duties and expectations, including work schedules.
• Actively performs inspections as needed to support on-time delivery (OTD).
• Communicates, reports, and coordinates with the Quality Manager to establish and determine required actions, priorities, and project development, including standardization opportunities.
• Implements quality training programs for inspection personnel in conjunction with the Quality Manager.
• Plays an active role in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System within the organization.
• Assists in conducting cell/production audits.
• Ensures final inspection activities are performed effectively and efficiently.
• Reviews work order certifications, material test reports (MTR’s), and first article inspection reports (FAIR).
• Ensures material testing is performed efficiently and on a timely basis.
• Provides oversight and reporting of calibration for measuring and test equipment and inspection tools.
• Oversees the gage/fixture checkout system.
• Provides oversight and reporting of Blue Light activities.
• Complies with all company policies, procedures, and practices.
• Instills awareness and knowledge of accuracy and safety among employees to minimize accidents and provide a safe work environment.
• Trains inspectors and operators on new systems, quality updates, and other areas as needed.
• Demonstrates understanding, support, and consistent application of the company’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of quality supervision experience in an ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Qualtrax, Seebrez Programming, and/or JD Edwards is preferred.
• Ability to read and evaluate drawings, specifications, and procedures to identify requirements, including knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience using precision inspection instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, CMM) and understanding their appropriate use, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail and problem-solving skills (root cause analysis).
• Intermediate computer skills to proficiently use Qualtrax, JD Edwards, Microsoft Office, and write programs for SPC software and automated inspection measuring equipment (Zeiss, Keyence, QC Calc, CMM).
• Knowledge of materials and material requirements as they relate to customer orders (ASTM, AMS, Customer Specifications).
• Ability to program and operate Zeiss, Keyence, QC Calc, and Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM).
• Ability to train other personnel.

Work Environment

• Located in a manufacturing facility requiring prolonged sitting, standing, walking, squatting, twisting, and bending.
• Spends approximately 90% of time on the production floor where heavy machinery is present and loud sounds exist.
• Requires lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Requires manual dexterity for typing.

• Safety glasses must be worn at all times when on the production floor.
• Safety toe shoes must be worn at all times when on the production floor.

Pay

$28.00–31.00/hour based on experience.
