About the Role
We are seeking a Quality Lead to oversee inspection functions of assembled parts. The Quality Lead will lead inspection workflow, serve as the initial escalation point, and prioritize inspector activities to meet production and shipping demands. This role collaborates with Quality and Production Management to identify and minimize causes of quality inspection delays and performs additional responsibilities as identified by Quality Management.
Responsibilities
- Lead inspection workflow by serving as the initial escalation point and prioritizing inspector activities to meet production and shipping demands.
- Collaborate with Quality and Production Management to identify and minimize causes of quality inspection delays.
- Perform all responsibilities of an Inspector, including:
- Inspecting products and/or documents at various stages of production to validate processes and ensure compliance with the Sonaca North America Quality System.
- Reading and interpreting customer instructions, blueprints, charts, and other statistical information.
- Preparing parts and documentation for outside criteria.
- Participating in work center and other problem-solving teams as requested.
- Entering data into the Work Order Tracking System, including notes and recording data on the work order.
- Documenting Nonconforming Material per the Quality System Requirements.
- Assisting in identifying parts deficiencies and helping to prevent further recurrences.
- Determining whether the product is acceptable or unacceptable according to work order and customer requirements.
- Exercising "stop the job" authority at any stage of the process.
- Performing sampling inspection and adhesion testing requirements.
- Maintaining good housekeeping in the inspection areas.
- Handling customer-supplied product with care.
- Properly using calibrated thickness masters, shims, certified master materials samples, etc.
- Verifying the job by matching actual parts with the work order, part number(s), printed and/or electronic pictures, and part count.
- Maintaining Sonaca North America’s quality standards to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Accessing all applicable Prime customer specification requirements on the SharePoint site.
- Managing time effectively to meet production, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Interacting professionally with co-workers and vendors, understanding internal customers, and maintaining good relations.
- Following all safety requirements and enforcing compliance.
- Working overtime, including weekends, on short notice when required.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Inspection Lead.
- Responding quickly to inquiries and following up as needed.
- Embracing change to ensure overall success of the company.
Requirements
- High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred. Candidates without a diploma or equivalency may be required to take a pre-employment assessment.
- Ability to read and comprehend American English.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand customer drawings, mylars, and sketches as applicable to the work being performed.
- Good working knowledge of all internal procedures and customer requirements.
- Good working knowledge of processes performed in the chemical processing area.
- Good communication skills when dealing with inspection personnel, on-floor operators, and customer service representatives.
- Flexibility and self-driven attitude.
- Proficiency in using the Work Order Tracking Program and the Quality System on the SharePoint site.
- Professionalism when dealing with subordinates and superiors.
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct problems using problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Basic math skills.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Exposure to noise levels ranging from quiet to extremely loud.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor, including eye, ear, and foot protection.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-50 pounds.
