Quality Inspector Mechanical/Piping

About the role

This position provides supervisory services to support the site quality program on projects, typically overseeing quality control activities for one or more areas and including larger scopes of work. On smaller projects, the individual may perform the duties of a Site Quality Manager. The role ensures projects comply with quality requirements stipulated in prime contracts.

Responsibilities

• Review and become familiar with project technical requirements such as the prime contract, applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
• Monitor and inspect project and construction execution through regular surveillance, inspection, and/or formal planned audits as directed.
• Supervise Quality personnel who perform audit, examination, inspection, surveillance, and/or testing activities in accordance with the project quality program.
• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organizational and project objectives.
• Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff.
• Act as a Lead Auditor to plan, perform, and report quality audits of a variety of construction activities.
• Perform physical inspections of discipline activities, including but not limited to: welding, piping, civil, concrete, buildings, fixed and rotating equipment, electrical, control systems, coatings, insulation, and non-destructive testing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Accredited two (2) or three (3) year Technical or Engineering Technology diploma or global equivalent in an applicable field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience, or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years if no accreditation is held. Some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
• Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
• Eight (8) years of quality assurance/quality control work experience, with at least one year of supervision experience.
• Intermediate or expert computer and software skills, including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and electronic presentations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to speak/read multiple languages (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification by a recognized authority (e.g., ASNT, AWS, API, NACE). Note: Personnel performing welding examinations, inspections, and/or reviewing radiographs must be capable of passing Fluor’s internal certifications for visual examiners/inspectors and radiographic interpreters.

Pay

Salary range: $83,000.00 - $154,000.00. The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; final salary is determined by candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions.

Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located. Background checks, including education, professional registration, employment, references, passport verifications, and Global Watchlist screening, are conducted as part of any conditional offer.
