Inspector, Quality Control

About the Role

Quality Control Inspector is responsible for examining products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications within the Aecon program. This position will report through the quality program.

Citizenship Requirement

This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection on pressure boundary and non-pressure boundary components, assemblies and structural fabrications in accordance with the applicable code of construction and/or customer specifications
• Perform dimensional inspections
• Perform concrete inspections
• Review Material Test Reports
• Perform receiving inspections
• Perform weld visual inspections
• Perform positive material identification
• Perform pressure test inspections
• Follow and maintain Inspection and Test Plans or Travelers
• Verify American Concrete Institute (ACI) codes and specifications
• Perform internal weld monitoring as required
• Perform source inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections
• Complete all associated documentation, including quality control reports, sign-off on drawings, creation of as-built drawings, and related documentation
• Establish, implement, and maintain site quality programs
• Coordinate with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, regulatory representatives, and field personnel to ensure work is completed correctly
• Assure work on-site meets applicable codes and specifications
• Develop and administer site-specific quality programs
• Conduct surveillance and audits of site contractor quality control programs
• Establish inspection plans and track inspections and identified actions
• Approve site testing such as soils testing, concrete placement and grout breaks, hydro tests, and NDE testing, and verify tests are properly documented
• Review and control documentation for the certification of construction and testing equipment
• Review turnover packages prior to handoff to Startup
• Assist in the coordination of punch list walkdowns and inspections; establish and manage punch lists
• Collate quality control documentation for final handover to the Owner
• Interface with clients and government officials
• Develop and implement quality programs that assist projects and divisions in meeting company and division quality goals and expectations
• May act as a quality consultant for internal and external clients
• May act as temporary project fill-in for lower-level quality professionals
• Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports
• Act as a mentor to other quality professionals
• Implement safety, quality, ethical standards, lessons learned, and adhere to performance management programs in accordance with division policies, standards, and guidelines
• Support continuous improvement efforts and change management initiatives associated with the implementation of improvements
• Participate in the development and maintenance of a cost of quality tracking system
• Track nonconformance reports and corrective/preventive action requests
• Perform other assigned duties as assigned by the Quality Manager

Qualifications

• Graduate secondary school education in welding technology, QA/QC, or a related discipline at the university or college level, or a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a QA/QC role
• ACI Certification and concrete experience would be an asset
• Level I Visual Weld Inspection or Level II Visual Weld Inspection certification
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
• B&PV Code ASME Section I, B31.1, B31.3, and Section VIII Division 1 experience would be an asset
• Experience with Nuclear and ASME Code Section III requirements would be an asset
• Ability to pass a physical examination, lift 50 lbs., climb scaffolds and ladders, enter confined spaces, work at heights, wear a full-body harness, and wear a respirator and required personal protective equipment
• Must be certified as SNT-TC-1A VT Level II, or have the ability to obtain this certification as a condition of employment
• Civil and mechanical experience
• Must be able to access the Savannah River Site unescorted
• Complete Savannah River Site General Employee Training
• Ability to work on an established schedule, report to work on time, and maintain flexibility to support projects
• Ability to obtain and maintain nuclear security clearance
