About the role
Zenix Aerospace Jet Products is currently hiring a full-time Quality Inspector for the 1st shift (6:30 am – 3:00 pm) Monday – Friday at our Kearny Mesa facility.
Responsibilities
- Inspects incoming, in-process, and outgoing material, parts, and assemblies to specifications and blueprints following standard shop practices and/or special instructions.
- Performs dimensional and visual in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
- Performs first article, floor, and final inspections of multiple operations or completed parts.
- Inspects assemblies, subassemblies, hardware, and parts for compliance with specifications, drawings, manuals, and customer/government requirements.
- Verifies certificate pack information (part number, job number, heat/lot number, serial/forging number, quantity, size, and shape).
- Accurately counts and visually inspects material for damage and cleanliness.
- Identifies items for acceptance or rejection and records required information on the traveler and certificate pack.
- Rejects nonconforming material and manages items in the hold/rework area.
- Clears and receives items in the MRP system.
- Stores raw material in designated areas.
- Completes and forwards certificate packs and documentation to the appropriate departments.
- Maintains cleanliness of the work area and ensures proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock.
- Reports inspection results and status within manufacturing operations.
- Follows written and verbal directions and completes work independently with minimal supervision.
- Assists in training inspectors in lower classifications as needed.
- Teaches, coaches, and facilitates processes when required.
- Listens and adheres to corporate policies, goals, and objectives; accepts constructive criticism; establishes goals; and demonstrates initiative and commitment.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma/GED
- Experience: 2+ years of quality manufacturing experience
Key Skills and Experience
- Technical aptitude comparable to those required in aerospace inspection or other industries that utilize precision gauges, specialized measurement tools, and digital inspection tools.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Input data into computer programs.
- Maintain filing systems.
- Maintain logs.
- Ability to operate a forklift and/or pallet jack.
