Quality Inspector
About the role
This position is responsible for basic visual, dimensional, and/or functional inspection of parts at Novanta, where our innovations power technology products transforming healthcare and advanced manufacturing. We create engineered components and sub-systems delivering extreme precision and performance for mission-critical applications.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic mechanical inspection of parts.
- Compile and maintain inspection records.
- Receive customer’s returns (RMA) in the ERP system.
- Perform inventory material transactions in the ERP system.
- Execute diverse tasks including inventory material transfers, coordination with regional Customer Care teams (US, EMEA, and Japan), and provide RMA status updates.
- Review and prepare RMA repairs or replacements for shipping to customers.
- Perform cycle counting as required.
- Perform internal MRB rework as required.
- Proactively seek productivity improvement opportunities.
- Discuss technical problems encountered with manager, engineering staff, or purchasing staff.
- Plan own work schedule based on material requirements and skillset.
- Strict compliance with quality, occupational safety, and environmental regulations.
- Implement instructions from the quality/environmental management representative and occupational safety specialist.
Requirements
- One (1) to two (2) years of related experience.
- High school, trade school, or equivalent education.
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with data entry and basic computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and superiors.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Proficiency in the use of mechanical inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, surface plate techniques, air gages, go/no-go gages, and other mechanical inspection tools.
- Willingness to work within prescribed procedures.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
- Job is performed while sitting or standing.
Pay
The salary for this role will range from $40,000 to $55,000 annually based on full-time employment. Salary offers consider factors such as location, relevant skills, training, experience, and education. Certain roles may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives.
