Quality Inspector
About the Role
Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a talented PCMM Technician to join a diverse team creating unique solutions for complex problems. The PCMM Technician will inspect large-scale parts at various stages of machining—from first piece to final inspection—using Romer arms, laser trackers, or scanners (handheld or blue light), as well as manual layout. Examples of parts include weldments, integrated assemblies, and tooling. The role involves documenting non-conforming material, providing concise feedback to machinists and engineers based on data collection, and maintaining all measurement equipment. Applicants must thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Inspect large-scale parts at various machining stages using Romer arms, laser trackers, or scanners (handheld or blue light), and manual layout.
- Document non-conforming material as required.
- Provide concise feedback to machinists and engineers based on data collection.
- Maintain all measurement equipment.
- Execute or witness test procedures and generate test reports.
- Read and interpret drawings, assembly schematics, and specifications to prepare handwritten or computer-generated inspection reports.
- Generate quality documentation, including inspection reports, bubble prints, Certificates of Conformance (C of C’s), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s).
- Work Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with 2–4+ years of relevant experience.
- Fluency with standard measurement equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, intra-micrometers, optical comparator).
- 4+ years of experience using Romer Arm, AS1 Scanner, Leica AT960 Laser Tracker, Leica AT402 Laser Tracker, or CMM.
- Proficiency in GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009.
- Experience reading and interpreting drawings, assembly schematics, and specifications.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Final Secret Clearance.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience inspecting complex aerospace hardware, handling non-conforming material, and participating in Material Review Board (MRB) processes.
- Experience with review/creation of Acceptance Data Packs or First Article Inspection.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 quality systems, AS5553 counterfeit prevention, and AS9102 first article inspection.
- Experience with Spatial Analyzer or similar PCMM software.
Pay
Pay Range: $48,100.00 – $86,950.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreements, or other legal requirements.
