About the role
Houston Medical Center – AMG Specialty Hospital is seeking a Full Time Quality, Infection Prevention, Employee Health Nurse (RN).
Responsibilities
- Identify, investigate, report, prevent and control healthcare associated infections (HAIs) among patients and personnel.
- Institute collection of cultures and initiate appropriate isolation precautions by authority of the Infection Control Committee.
- Assist with in-service programs related to infection prevention and control.
- Assist with employee work-related injuries, recommend appropriate action, and communicate with the risk manager on workplace trends.
- Attend to pre-employment medical screening tests and annual recurring screens.
- Serve as a liaison to the worker’s compensation carrier for the facility.
- Develop and implement the hospital’s Utilization Review plan.
Requirements
- Current RN License in the state of Texas.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in a supervisory position in healthcare or one (1) to three (3) years in infection control.
- Member of the Association of Practitioners of Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred.
- Working knowledge of microbiology, Epidemiology, infectious diseases, aseptic techniques and current practices.
- Current BLS Certification.
- One (1) year experience in utilization review.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer knowledge.
