Basic Function

Responsible for ensuring that all foundry aluminum and magnesium castings meet quality control requirements prior to shipping. Assist in the electronic and mechanical gage calibration process and assist the quality team in resolving quality issues.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.
  • Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
  • Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship.
  • Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process.
  • Prepare Inspection plans and enter in database.
  • Complete, date and sign-off/scan all routing information.
  • Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards.
  • Assist Quality Team and MRB through input of daily scrap entries, weekly monitoring of system NC’s, PA’s, CPA’s and creation of MRB rework tickets as needed.
  • Determine inspection procedure to ensure complete verification of specifications and dimensions.
  • Obtain necessary fixtures, gauges, and indicators to check castings for compliance with specifications.
  • Ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Read blueprints or engineering specifications to obtain casting information such as specified material, surface finish, and dimension requirements; ability to compare surface finish of work piece to finish requirements.
  • Absorb necessary training to pass validated inspection assessment if required.
  • Must be responsible for control of quality acceptance stamps and proper placement procedures.
  • Inspector must be capable of working in at least one inspection area with all testing requirements complete.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager of the department.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must work independently with minimal direction and take responsibility for implementation of projects as required;
  • Ability to effectively communicate required information to vendors, customers, and employees;
  • Pass validated inspection assessment.

Skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent;
  • ASQ or Quality related education preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience performing final inspection, preferably in an aerospace business;
  • Knowledge of ISO9000;
  • Basic blueprint reading;
  • Ability to interpret basic Geometric, Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T);
  • Basic computers skills. Data entry, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
