What You'll Do
- Lead quality engineers to support production lines and build a network across factories to leverage good practices and continuous improvement
- Own product quality during its entire lifecycle, implementing and sustaining Advanced Product Quality Planning practices, driving continuous improvement in field quality, production yield, and supply chain of fabricated and purchased components
- Establish and meet clear quality metrics and objectives for the site
- Drive professional problem solving to root cause and correct failures in production and the field
- Master and nurture a data-driven team with advanced statistical, analysis, and visualization skills
- Support a 24x7 global business with the needed sense of urgency to protect Tesla customers and business, while enabling work-life balance, commitment, and fun at work
- Develop and motivate a high-performing team of exceptional engineers, supervisors, and technicians to be proud to take part in Tesla’s mission to transition the world towards sustainable energy
- Lead a quality assurance team of technicians, supervisors, and engineers to support production needs, implementing consistent standard work and training, to ensure that all products meet specifications and quality issues are prevented or addressed immediately
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience of Quality leadership in manufacturing and/or designing new products for high volume operations
- 10+ years Automotive manufacturing experience
- Proven track record to build and lead a strong team in a 24x7 manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Analysis, APQP, and Six Sigma tools and methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize in highly dynamic production environment
- Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Able to resolve quality issues with urgency on a 24x7 production environment, which require flexibility when the need arises
- Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in tough circumstances
- Dependable leader and professional problem solver that seeks solutions rather than only pointing problems
- Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
- Communicate clearly using excellent written and verbal skills
