About the Role

The Quality Engineer serves as a direct liaison between Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality to ensure the shop floor effectively produces high-quality products for customers. This role involves implementing measurement control processes, sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques while providing necessary training to shop personnel to ensure compliance with all quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review all new project release packages to verify customer specifications are achievable.
  • Implement and update inspection plans for new and existing projects.
  • Conduct training with shop personnel on new projects and resolve quality-related questions.
  • Provide feedback to Engineering regarding any process changes.
  • Learn and uphold customer specifications to protect the company’s interests and act as a resource for others.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality procedures and document exceptions for Manufacturing and Quality management.
  • Develop inspection processes that achieve both quality and economic results as quoted.
  • Meet promised due dates on all customer proposal requests.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the implementation and development of advanced manufacturing technology.
  • Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) in compliance with print specifications.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; formal technical writing education is an asset.
  • Team player attitude with a commitment to reliability and follow-through.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deliveries amid multiple work assignments.
  • Proven record of strong leadership, motivational skills, and sound decision-making.
  • Ability to resolve problems using logical, systematic, and sequential approaches.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and statistical software such as Mini-Tab.
  • Advanced ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Solid understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M).
  • Experience with and knowledge of ISO/TS requirements.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of manufacturing, sheet metal, or welding fabrication knowledge preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience as a Quality Technician in a manufacturing environment preferred.
