About the Role

This position supports testing of new and existing products, supplier quality and vendor development, manufactured product quality, and the evaluation and resolution of manufacturing or supplier product issues related to steel manufacturing and ground control solutions. The role involves close collaboration with Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality teams, as well as manufacturing facilities and suppliers, to ensure manufactured and purchased products meet all requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform lab testing and organizational tasks with guidance from Engineering, applying engineering principles to perform accurate calculations and analyses and determine necessary tools for testing setups.
  • Assist with lab testing of manufactured or purchased products, interpret product drawings, specifications, and material requirements, and prepare emails or reports conveying technical requirements and lab testing results.
  • Interpret specification requirements from regulatory or industry standards.
  • Support the creation and organization of technical documents.
  • Participate in vendor auditing and communication to support the purchasing of quality product and vendor development.
  • Assist with quality audits and product testing as assigned.
  • Use or learn to use lab machines such as tensile and hardness testers.
  • Determine proper test fixturing for industry standard testing or specific part issues.
  • Prepare samples for testing using saws, shears, bench grinders, and mills.
  • Maintain organization of the lab and incoming part storage.
  • Support a system for sample part retention by part type and supplier.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand drawings or models created with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
  • Ability to interpret product drawings, specifications, and material requirements.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and communications conveying test results and part requirements.
  • Ability to use or learn to use lab testing equipment such as tensile and hardness testers.
  • Ability to prepare test samples using shop tools such as saws, shears, bench grinders, and mills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or an equivalent relevant discipline (Mechanical or Material Science Engineering) – preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience – preferred.
  • Experience with vendor auditing or supplier quality development – preferred.

Pay

$75,000 to $105,000 per year, plus quarterly bonuses.
