About the role
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of manufactured goods, with an emphasis on systems involving the implementation of AS9100 and AS13100.
Responsibilities
- Work within company policies to manage the quality assurance aspects of new product introduction.
- Provide oversight of the manufacture of products to ensure engineering documentation aligns with manufacturing methods.
- Coordinate activities associated with the “first article build” of new products, ensuring traceability to documented standards.
- Develop test methods/procedures to support product validation efforts.
- Maintain test equipment to traceable aerospace industry standards.
- Perform performance validation tests to meet customer specifications and generate test reports.
- Support Prime Customers for first articles and corrective action.
- Review contracts, specifications, purchase orders, and planning.
- Plan and implement quality initiatives throughout the organization.
- Recommend, review, and approve changes to manufacturing plans and drawings based on customer requirements.
- Perform internal and external audits.
- Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations as required.
- Assist with training RBC Divisions regarding Customer and Quality System requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years of experience in the aerospace industry (mechanical), or
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and minimum 3 years in the aerospace industry (mechanical).
Skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Practical experience in precision inspection equipment and calibration.
- Knowledge of aerospace materials.
- Working knowledge of FAA/PMA regulations.
- Hands-on experience with ASME Y14.5, dimensional inspection, and GD&T.
- Experience with Gage R&R, SPC, PFMEA, and PPAP.
- Experience with AS9100 systems and AS13100.
- Experience with internal audits, customer audits, and NADCAP audits.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works indoors within office and manufacturing areas. The role may involve occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. The employee must regularly sit, talk, or hear and frequently use hands to handle or feel objects. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close vision.
This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), requiring the incumbent to be either a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or have refugee/asylee status.
Pay
Pay range: $80,000 to $90,000 annually (for California-based roles). An employee’s pay position within the range will be based on factors including geographic location, experience, education, skills, qualifications, performance, and business needs.
