About the role

Pratt Miller is a product development company in motorsports, defense, and mobility industries providing clients with product engineering and low-volume production solutions. The Quality Engineer - Mid Level supports programs across the product development lifecycle—from prototype through low-volume production—within an ISO 9001 certified engineering and manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product development teams to interpret customer quality requirements and ensure they are incorporated into program execution.
  • Partner with the quality laboratory team to implement processes that ensure customer and program requirements are met.
  • Inspect incoming parts and documentation to confirm specifications and established quality standards are satisfied.
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques (such as 8D) to identify root causes and lead cross-functional teams in developing corrective actions.
  • Support Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) development with manufacturing engineering.
  • Develop and maintain robust control plans to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Apply knowledge of measurement and verification methods to validate product and process requirements.
  • Assist manufacturing teams in the development and implementation of new processes from a quality perspective.
  • Create, review, and approve internal and supplier FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports) and/or PPAP documentation.
  • Maintain quality records, documentation, and program data.
  • Conduct audits of production processes both internally and at supplier locations.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams in both written and verbal formats.
  • Utilize Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office tools including Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and review CAD models when required.

Qualifications

  • BS Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment, preferably supporting defense or advanced technology programs.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Skills

  • Experience applying quality tools such as PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques, metrology equipment, and measurement systems.
  • Familiarity with quality documentation standards such as PPAP and FAIR.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software for design review.

Pay

$64,500.00 - $103,500.00

Schedule

Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Typical work week averages approximately 45 hours. Additional hours or occasional weekend work may be required to support program deadlines.
