About the Role

Performs Quality Engineering assignments requiring independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard Quality techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment and ingenuity in making adaptations and modifications. The Quality Engineer IV leads all quality initiatives and deliverables in support of product design activities, planning, production, data analysis, root cause and corrective action, and process and product improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews customer contracts on complex projects with strong focus on ensuring high quality products and process control; responsible for requirements analysis, identification and definition, and setting the strategic approach for ensuring Quality on the program.
  • Serves as the senior quality authority for highly complex DoD weapon system programs with strict 100% traceability requirements.
  • Performs quality planning activities including development of Quality Plan, Quality Assurance Directives, and Inspection Plan documents as required by the assigned project(s).
  • Interfaces with Supplier Development and Sourcing Engineering to provide guidance and support for supplier issues.
  • Participates in product development and design document reviews targeting design for manufacturability.
  • Coordinates with Manufacturing Engineers to define, validate, and implement process controls, data collection standards, and inspection gates that guarantee traceability.
  • Interfaces with internal organizations and systems in performance of the assigned Quality Engineering functions.
  • Leads root-cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective action implementation on high-impact issues involving critical assemblies and subsystems.
  • Serves as Quality lead on all internal QMS audits and external customer audits.
  • Mentors and guides junior staff, providing coaching, training, and technical leadership.
  • Participates in Program Management activities appropriate to the assigned project(s).
  • Participates in Contract Data Requirements List development, review, and delivery to the customer as required by the assigned project(s).
  • Assists in developing fabrication/build processes and standards to meet all contractual requirements.
  • Serves as senior MRB chair or technical authority, guiding disposition, risk assessment, and documentation for nonconforming materials.
  • Uses knowledge of inspection tools and techniques to define inspection requirements.
  • Performs QA estimating in support of proposals for complex projects with stringent requirements and dynamic work scopes.
  • Provides status inputs to the Cost Account Manager for tasks performed.
  • May perform CAM function for small to medium projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an AS9100 environment.
  • Fluent knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Effective ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and applications.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to apply logical, scientific, or analytical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • An inquiring mind and passion for learning.
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
  • Vast knowledge and experience of Quality Engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Oracle (ERP)/Solumina (MES).
  • Ability to lead and influence teams, communicate effectively with senior leadership, and represent manufacturing in customer or government interactions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
