About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in a production environment.
- Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals.
- Integrate quality system applications between engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure the consistent and ongoing use of quality best practices and communication of quality issues.
- Facilitate troubleshooting of quality issues with diverse teams, lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action.
- Perform reviews and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.
- Perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100, recommend initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality.
- Provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to inspection, manufacturing and test.
- Periodically interface with internal and external customers on quality related concerns and develop training materials to build quality awareness.
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering/Science
- 5+ years’ proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 QM System and/or related quality systems and programs
- Ability to support manufacturing schedules (first, second, weekend shift) and extended hours as needed
- Earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Qualifications
- Passion for our mission and vision is required
- Desired Experience in Aerospace, spacecraft processing, space launch, military/commercial aviation highly preferred
- Experience with IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
- Experience with IPC 620 standard (IPC-WHMA-A-620)
- Experience in GD&T fundamentals
- Experience with quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, root cause analysis and corrective action
- Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem solving approaches
- American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification
