Quality Engineer- Electronics

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets, operating in demanding environments such as engines, landing gear, satellites, medical implants, missiles, and unmanned aerial systems. Our Fort Walton Beach location, near white-sand beaches, is home to our Defense Power business, a leading supplier of high-power solutions for aerospace and defense applications. We provide custom radar, directed energy, and electric warfare solutions for next-gen military platforms.

About the role

The Quality Engineer works with minimal supervision, applying originality, ingenuity, and established procedures to control and monitor quality, ensuring products meet industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements. This role also supports AS9145 (APQP) implementation.

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Suppliers, and Customers.
• Collect and analyze production data to evaluate product quality.
• Drive root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Stop production if serious product defects are present.
• Monitor quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
• Instruct others in quality control and analytical procedures.
• Produce reports on nonconformance, root cause analyses, or quality trends.
• Review statistical studies, regulatory standards, and trends in quality control.
• Identify critical points in the Value Stream and specify sampling procedures.
• Drive qualification of product and process changes to ensure high quality.
• Support audits with Defense, Aerospace, and Customer Auditors.
• Provide support for failure analysis and reliability testing.
• Review and approve quality document changes (ECOs, MCOs, deviations, etc.).
• Utilize continuous improvement roadmaps, establishing priorities and methods using data.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by supervisor or management.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Quality, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and MSA for AS9145.
• 2-5 years of Quality Engineering experience in aerospace, electronics, or automotive manufacturing.
• Preferred certifications: CQE, CQA, CQM, or similar through ASQ.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong oral and written communication skills for reports, process instructions, and cross-functional support.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AS9100.
• Educational background in structured problem solving, 5S, mistake-proofing, and process capability tools.
