The Plant Quality Engineer will support quality activities and provide quality leadership at the plant. You will collaborate with and train team members on quality methods and tools, and support plant improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support the manufacturing floor and lead investigations into quality concerns with cross-functional teams, validating containment as required.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented and validated for effectiveness.
- Verify and update appropriate documentation, obtaining customer approval when required.
- Maintain quality documentation and conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
- Validate error-proofing on the manufacturing floor is operational.
- Verify Advance Production Quality Planning (APQP) floor activities, including identifying new risks in existing production.
- Lead short-term quality initiatives to improve Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Complete plant floor audits and analyze data to implement solutions with cross-functional teams.
- Conduct problem-solving and communicate with customers on quality concerns (corrective actions, warranty, customer audits).
- Ensure all appropriate documentation is updated.
- Participate in the Engineering Change process to ensure standards are updated and validated for all changes.
- Develop, validate, and verify error-proofing implementation in support of processes.
- Participate as a member of launch programs in the plant when required.
- Create and validate quality documentation prior to the launch of production.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 10+ years of experience; Bachelor’s in Engineering preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in AIAG APQP processes.
- Quality Certification (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, CQA, etc.) desirable.
- Minimum travel required.
Skills
- Subject matter expert in Quality Tools (8D, 5 Why, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC).
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in problem-solving.
- Professional communication with internal and external customers.
- Driven professional with a passion for improving systems and processes.
- Strong working knowledge of PFMEA and Control Plans.
- Understanding of IATF 16949 requirements.
- Demonstrated success in solving problems in a manufacturing operation.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing methods.
- Understanding of Quality Systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members.
- High-level computer skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Sense of urgency and an overall customer satisfaction focus.
