Quality Engineer

Primary Skills And Responsibilities

• Create, test, and maintain inspection programs for CMM machines.
• Understand CNC programming, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and quality inspection processes.
• Operate and program CMM machines (Manual and DCC).
• Participate in APQP process for gage and fixture design.
• Develop quick change processes for CMMs.
• Perform quality inspection checks including first piece, hourly, final, and backward recall on non-conforming product.
• Implement non-conforming product hold tags.
• Maintain gauge calibration and Gage R&R.
• Avoid accidents by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Communicate with other departments to support quality and production initiatives.
• Lead teams to support continuous improvement efforts in Building 1 and 2 (5S, internal audits, organizational knowledge).
• Document testing and root cause analysis for internal or external problems.
• Create work instructions and provide feedback on manufacturing issues.
• Address manufacturing issues through collaboration with Quality Management and Manufacturing Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
• Knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
• Participation in continued education courses as required for new projects and career growth within XL (TQM/CQT/CQE).
• Ability to use CMM software.
• Ability to mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, and fixtures.
