Quality Engineer

About the Role

The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing quality support during design, procurement, manufacturing, and test activities on Stellar Energy projects. The major objective is to assist in managing day-to-day quality activities to ensure fabricated modules meet project delivery goals and maintain ISO compliance for the Quality Management System (QMS).

Responsibilities

• Establish manufacturing inspection programs with appropriate procedures and forms or review and comment on contractors' proposed procedures.
• Perform inspections on activities and materials, and coordinate inspections by other parties.
• Provide third-party review of destructive/non-destructive test results and data.
• Assist in supplier evaluation and selection.
• Witness or provide for the witnessing of testing of systems and equipment, including tolerance checks or other inspections as specified in quality control procedures.
• Review quality specifications for projects and proposals.
• Coordinate internal auditing activities.
• Maintain good interface with other disciplines.
• Prepare for ISO 9001 and other audits.
• Perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) with team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a technical field from an accredited University.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial QA/QC or similar projects.
• Certified ISO 9001 internal auditor, familiar with ISO 9001:2015 systems.
• Familiarity with process control, Lean, SPC tools, and Six Sigma.

Preferred Qualifications

• QMS Auditor trained.
• Familiarity with the selection and technical requirements of general mechanical equipment, including pumps, chillers, cooling towers, and heat exchangers.

Work Environment

Most work is performed in an office environment with frequent work in a manufacturing/assembly environment. Fabrication shop observation and support may require personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory head protection. Some exposure to loud noises or fumes in the facility is expected.

Physical Demands

May lift and carry measuring instruments, tools, and test equipment; ascend and descend ladders and platforms; work in various positions such as stooping, kneeling, or squatting. Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Less than 25% travel, including occasional local day trips or overnight travel.
