About the role
The Quality Engineer will initially be responsible for both supplier quality and product quality. Ensuring that all products delivered from a supplier, packaging and other operational processes are in compliance with manufacturing specifications and company standards. In addition, ensuring that all products delivered to customers are in compliance with manufacturing specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Drives approval of supplier parts, materials and project subcontractor service activities, as applicable; this might include close coordination with other functions/experts and where applicable
- Ensures the supplier qualification process is executed in full and ensures the relevant suppliers are and remain fully qualified and compliant
- Ensuring all supplier non-conformances are identified and controlled. Supporting their investigation to ensure timely closure/effectiveness
- Oversees supplier quality function and establishes quality control objectives
- Leads the execution of supplier assessments, driving both corrective and preventive actions as applicable, based on supplier maturity and performance
- Maintains supplier quality records
- Maintains relationships with suppliers
- Promotes early supplier involvement in product development activities to maximize capture of supplier innovation and improvements in Quality, Delivery, Cost and Risk Management
- Provides support to Supply Chain in the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, or items from a quality standpoint
- Reviews supplier documentation, such as, certifications, end item data packages, etc. to ensure compliance to requirements
- Participates in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities, reviewing documents, drawings, and instructions to ensure conformance to requirements, and participating in cross-functional team meetings
- Conducts test protocols as assigned to ensure the products, systems or software meet specified requirements and customer expectations in incoming, manufacturing, factory test labs or final inspection quality, including internal testing routine and F.A.T. as applicable
- Drives root cause analysis process, including problem-solving activities, reviewing documents, drawings, and instructions to ensure conformance to requirements, and participating in cross-functional team meetings
- Assists engineering staff to develop test protocols as necessary to investigate the integrity of new products, or new functionality for existing products
- Ensures all non-conformances are identified and controlled
- Reviews customers, suppliers documentation, such as, certifications, quality requirements, etc. to ensure compliance with the company’s requirements
- Aids in reducing the occurrence of manufacturing errors
- Ensures that identified problems from Quality Control are understood and evaluated from a customer/stakeholder point of view
- Collaborates in the resolution of problems to completion, following robust root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Provides feedback and advises engineering / R&D on improvement opportunities in product and/or process design
- Evaluates test performance for effectiveness and efficiency to improve test design
- Uses lessons learned from the field to improve testing in alignment with engineering
- Performs quality system audits
- Promotes employee engagement in safety programs and risk prevention activities
- Utilizes safety systems to perform work, resulting in an accident-free workplace
- Notifies others when unsafe situations are observed and works with local HSE teams to improve the safety systems
Essential Qualifications, Experience, And Skills
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment with integrated power and power conversion products in various stages of prototyping, commercialization and production
- Experience in selecting suppliers and ensuring the suppliers meet all regulatory and company requirements
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other problem-solving techniques
- Experience with ISO9001/ISO14001 Environmental and Quality Management Systems
- Demonstrated proficiency with quality inspection activities, and the use of appropriate root cause analysis tools (NC, CAR, 8D, problem solving)
- Experience in creating and updating documentations (Procedures, Work Instructions)
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Compensation
Compensation range: $85,000 – $95,000
