About the role
The Quality Engineer supports mechanical and electrical manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing in the aerospace and defense sectors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement program quality planning
- Analyze QA requirements and develop inspection/test procedures
- Review nonconformance documentation and support root cause/corrective actions
- Review AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation
- Work with government QA agencies
- Collect and analyze quality metrics
- Support design reviews, manufacturing readiness, and supplier audits
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience in ISO9001/AS9100 systems or equivalent, or a master’s degree with 2–6 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma with 10 years of experience
- Experience with non-conforming materials, failure analysis, and QMS documentation
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical data, and developing verification procedures
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to lift 25 lbs
- Strong communication skills
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance
- Must reside in or relocate to North Alabama
Skills
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering and Agile methodologies (preferred)
- ASQ certification, Six Sigma, PFMEA, or PQCT (preferred)
- Experience with test & evaluation (T&E), contract review, and technical specifications (preferred)
- Collaboration, problem-solving, and ability to work with minimal supervision
