Quality Engineer
About the role
We are hiring pioneering and collaborative engineers to build our next generation of intelligent products. Our quality engineers are conscientious hackers who thrive on collaboration and are adept at driving large-scale projects in the fast-changing domain of artificial intelligence. You will be at the forefront of building the automation, tooling, and quality systems that let us ship complex, AI-driven products with confidence, bringing rigor and trust to a data-rich industry.
As a Quality Engineer, you build quality into the engineering process rather than testing it after the fact. You take ownership of well-defined but technically challenging quality problems, and you're trusted to make sound decisions on automation design without close supervision. You collaborate closely with software engineers, understand the systems you're testing at a deep level, and contribute to raising the quality bar on the team you work with.
Responsibilities
- Build and scale our test automation, quality infrastructure, and performance testing systems.
- Lead the design and implementation of our core automation frameworks, including our migration from Cypress to Playwright, along with our performance testing framework.
- Perform root cause analysis on product defects and test failures, triaging and debugging issues to determine whether the failure is in the product, the test, or the environment, before routing it to the right owner.
- Tackle our most challenging quality problems, from automation architecture to AI-assisted testing, driving projects from ideation to deployment and beyond.
- Act as a generalist engineer with flexible responsibilities based on company needs as well as your skills and interests.
- Have a high degree of autonomy to identify and pursue impactful work.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of experience building and maintaining test automation for complex software systems.
- Excellent programming ability in JavaScript/TypeScript, and comfort writing and maintaining production-grade automation code.
- Proven track record of designing, leading, and delivering large-scale, cross-functional quality initiatives.
- Comfort triaging and debugging test failures independently, and performing root cause analysis on both product bugs and flaky or failing tests—not just reporting that something failed.
- Hands-on experience integrating AI into the quality workflow, from test generation to flaky-test triage, along with the judgment to know when AI-generated output needs a closer look.
- Significant experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership that raises the bar for an entire engineering organization.
- Experience thriving in multiple engineering environments and a history of driving quality strategy and vision.
