Quality Engineer

About the Role

Louisiana Bridge Builders (“LBB”) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.

Position Purpose

The Quality Engineer is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by coordinating, documenting, and reporting quality activities for the Project.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure all inspection and testing documentation is accurately completed and filed.
• Monitor and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for construction activities.
• Verify that required hold points, witness points, and acceptance criteria are followed in accordance with specifications.
• Perform routine field inspections to verify construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and work plans.
• Assist in ensuring that quality requirements are implemented by subcontractors.
• Compile comprehensive reports detailing quality performance, highlighting trends, and suggesting corrective actions and lessons learned.
• Collaborate in the digitalization of quality records.
• Monitor, verify and generate daily reports on the progress and performance of contractor activities.
• Maintain an active role in providing relevant information to continually improve procedures, Work Plans, and QC efforts.
• Perform off‐site quality inspections at the Owners/suppliers/manufacturer’s yard/shop as needed.
• Participate in the analysis of corrective and preventive actions and, in general, identifying and recording any incidents related to the Quality Plans and Quality Procedures.
• Report quality issues associated with the construction and track deficiencies/non‐conformances.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field of study along with 3+ years of related quality experience or high school diploma (or equivalent) along with 7+ years of related quality experience.
• Experience working with Design-Build projects and/or the construction industry is preferred.
• Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge and experience in the implementation of the ISO 9001 standard on Quality Management System is required.
• Experience in implementing quality management and quality control digital tools will be valued.
