About the role
Ensure quality problems are resolved in a timely and effective manner without reoccurrence. Apply expert-level problem-solving techniques (8D, PDCA, FTA, Ishikawa) to address customer and internal quality issues. Monitor and manage quality performance for major customer-critical modules, including GM, Mercedes, Ford, and Stellantis (FCA), addressing field issues, scorecards, and chargebacks in compliance with customer timelines.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with management to establish and monitor performance expectations for manufacturing processes using key quality metrics (Internal PPM with Pareto Analysis, Customer PPM, COPQ, FPY, and field failure trends). Escalate abnormal patterns to cross-functional teams for timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Support new product development by working with the APQP team, managing APQP and PPAP activities for product launches and process changes, including development and maintenance of Control Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, and inspection criteria.
- Monitor key quality measurables (customer PPM, warranty returns, field failure trends, and field recalls) to ensure compliance with customer requirements and drive continuous improvement in customer satisfaction.
- Employ FMEA methodologies in quality improvement activities.
- Develop, monitor, and address Quality Control and Inspection Methods, including Layered Audit Findings, Layered Audits, VDA Process Audits, Product Audits, and Internal Audits to ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and IATF 16949/ISO 9001.
- Maintain key process documentation such as Control Plans, PFMEAs, Inspection Checklists, Work Instructions, Internal PPM Gap Closure reports, CRRNs, and logs for customer and field issues.
- Provide daily updates at morning walkabout meetings regarding product and process concerns and continual improvements.
- Serve as the primary contact for customer quality-related concerns, PPAP, and Annual Validation. Verify and submit customer Corrective Actions promptly and effectively.
- Prepare technical statistical analysis of field failures, including diagnostic codes, customer faults, EOS, inoperative conditions, and no-trouble-found cases. Calculate and propose technical factor percentages with the customer to reach mutual agreements and reduce cost impact.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Five years of experience as a Quality Engineer or related position in automotive engineering.
- Five years of experience in 8D problem solving, structured root cause analysis, statistical process control, and PFMEA.
- Certification for VDA 6.3 process auditor.
- Certification for IATF 16949:2016.
Pay
$117,582 per year

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (40 hours per week)
