Quality Engineer

About the role

Backshop Quality is seeking a quality engineer to join the Blades Product Center at Lockheed Martin. This role involves developing and implementing quality plans, inspecting methods, and conducting first article inspections. The candidate will also drive root cause and corrective action investigations, ensuring quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle. They will maintain effective communication with internal and external customers, including the DCMA and FAA, and coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and Procurement on product quality issues.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce quality standards throughout the product lifecycle
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and Procurement on product quality issues
• Contribute to the Product Quality team in support of DRT, CAB, Hi-Vis escape management process, and data analytics
• Promote continuous improvement using tools like Relentless Root Cause Analysis and DIVE
• Support standard work for key processes and Product Operations initiatives
• Support Material Review Board, Quality Council, Product Safety, and ESH initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience
• Experience with reading engineering drawings
• Knowledge of MS office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Flexibility/Adaptability
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in various process areas

Qualifications

• STEM discipline background (engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or related field)
• Effective communication skills
• Experience with ISO 9001/AS9100
• Basic Quality Engineering knowledge
• Experience with Failure Analysis
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)

• Strong product and process knowledge
• Excellent technical skills
• Adept with desktop PC applications and information systems
• Communication and presentation skills
