About the Role

The Quality Engineer will support operations by focusing on process improvements, quality testing, enhancing quality, and ensuring operational efficiency. This role may involve leading or participating in projects aimed at cost reduction and improving product quality, supporting Georgia-Pacific's commitment to continuous improvement and evolving customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the quality program, ensuring compliance with applicable certifications and regulatory requirements
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints; manage corrective actions promptly
  • Review technical files, master records, validation plans, and design releases for accuracy and completeness
  • Conduct regular monitoring and performance evaluations of thermoforming and extrusion plastics processes
  • Assess non-conforming products, approve shipment holds, and oversee ECOs
  • Develop and refine work instructions, procedures, and work standards to boost efficiency and product quality
  • Compile and analyze test results to diagnose malfunctions, identify trends, and recommend corrective measures

Requirements

  • Experience working in a quality-specific position in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
  • Experience interpreting data, identifying trends and patterns, presenting scientific information, and compiling data in various analytical formats
  • Experience leading an initiative within the operation and working through others to accomplish goals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Prior experience working in a shape molding, thermoforming, or extrusion facility (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis techniques and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) (preferred)
  • Experience working with Safe Quality Food (SQF) (preferred)
