Our client, a leader in geotechnical and geo-structural construction solutions, is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their growing team in Houston, TX. This hybrid, direct-hire role is ideal for an engineering professional passionate about quality assurance, process improvement, and field operations.
Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, drawings, contracts, and regulatory requirements to establish quality standards and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, including ASTM, ACI, FHWA, AASHTO, USACE, and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and field evaluations to verify project quality and compliance.
- Oversee quality control programs, including testing requirements, data collection, reporting, and documentation.
- Analyze project and testing data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for quality improvement.
- Investigate quality issues, perform root cause analyses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and implement quality processes, procedures, and best practices to support operational excellence.
- Review engineering designs, plans, testing procedures, and quality documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Support project management and field operations teams by providing technical expertise and quality-related guidance.
- Assist in developing and maintaining testing data repositories and quality records.
- Monitor data acquisition systems and establish quality-related review thresholds or alert parameters.
- Prepare reports and presentations on quality performance, findings, and improvement initiatives.
- Train and mentor Field Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers, and field personnel on quality standards, testing procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct project audits to ensure proper documentation, recordkeeping, and continuous adherence to quality standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction, quality engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with industry standards and specifications, including ASTM, ACI, FHWA, and AASHTO.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30% or more.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in geotechnical or geo-structural construction.
- Experience working on design-build construction projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with PowerApps or similar data management and reporting tools.
Pay
$90,000 - $120,000
