About the Role

As a factory Quality Engineer in our Live Events manufacturing team, you’ll engage with all aspects of the quality management system, driving improvements and supporting long-term corporate quality projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with training of Quality Assistant/Technician.
  • Support PTC Windchill Closed-Loop Quality Management, including Non-Conformances (NC), Temporary Deviation Request (Variance), Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA), and First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Lead the auditing programs for the factory, ensuring auditors are well-trained, audits are documented, and performed on-time.
  • Review and analyze existing processes and equipment operations to improve product quality, manufacturing capability, process control, and scrap reduction.
  • Develop and maintain relevant quality metrics.
  • Prioritize, lead, and facilitate quality improvement efforts.
  • Analyze and present data/information to support improvement activities.
  • Monitor and control nonconforming material, providing feedback to internal and external providers.
  • Assist manufacturing with evaluation and disposition of nonconforming material, following escalation processes.
  • Review feedback on product issues from customer factories, field installation, service, and other areas, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Participate in Design FMEA and Process FMEA projects.
  • Provide training on topics such as 8-Step, 8D, DoE, SPC, FMEA, and Quality Control Plans.
  • Support supplier quality activities, including first article inspections and supplier quality improvements.
  • Actively participate in lean activities that may affect quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Daktronics’ efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent from a college or technical school.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and self-motivation.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business communications, governmental regulations, industry standards, technical procedures, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to management, employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to organize workload and prioritize tasks according to company plans.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy (up to 45 pounds) and/or awkward items.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for the full shift and have full range of motion as required for the position.
  • Ability to distinguish and identify colors (e.g., wires, paint) as it pertains to the position.
  • Ability to work with odors associated with a manufacturing environment (e.g., paint, solder, welding, coating).
  • Wear all required protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, and protective garments.
  • Ability to travel by air and ground, complying with Daktronics Driver Eligibility Policy (verified through a motor vehicle record check).
  • Ability to travel overnight to domestic and international locations.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with Daktronics products, internal processes, and computer systems.
  • Working knowledge/experience in Lean Manufacturing, Quality, and Six Sigma implementation.
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and digital photo editing.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as 8-Step, 8D, FMEA, DoE, SPC, and various problem-solving tools.
  • Proficiency in statistical packages.
