About the role
We are seeking a Quality Engineer II for our Huntington, Indiana plant. In this hands-on position, you will be the face of the facility to the customer, working with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure the quality of your assigned program.
Responsibilities
- Become familiar with customer-specific quality system requirements, including the customer-specific portal.
- Act as liaison with external parties (customer & supplier) on matters relating to assigned product.
- Lead all APQP efforts, responsible for reviewing and updating as needed:
- Process flow diagrams
- Process control plans
- Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis plans
- Manufacturing work instructions
- Quality Inspection instructions
- Error-proofing effectiveness
- Internally collected variable and attribute data
- BOM accuracy
- Manage customer issues, including:
- Internal product sorts / quality alerts
- Interim corrective actions
- Permanent corrective actions
- Responding to customer concerns/issues (written and verbal)
- Train employees on quality issues as needed.
- Develop, document, and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, production, and quality through layered process auditing and scrap reduction.
- Read and interpret GD&T and apply that knowledge as needed.
- Perform problem-solving techniques and process capabilities using statistical techniques.
- Be familiar with supplier PPAPs and procedures.
- Support IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Four-year degree required.
- 10–15 years of quality and/or quality engineering experience in the automotive industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to resolve conflicts and handle issues involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
