About the role

We are seeking a Quality Engineer II for our Huntington, Indiana plant. In this hands-on position, you will be the face of the facility to the customer, working with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure the quality of your assigned program.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with customer-specific quality system requirements, including the customer-specific portal.
  • Act as liaison with external parties (customer & supplier) on matters relating to assigned product.
  • Lead all APQP efforts, responsible for reviewing and updating as needed:
    • Process flow diagrams
    • Process control plans
    • Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis plans
    • Manufacturing work instructions
    • Quality Inspection instructions
    • Error-proofing effectiveness
    • Internally collected variable and attribute data
    • BOM accuracy
  • Manage customer issues, including:
    • Internal product sorts / quality alerts
    • Interim corrective actions
    • Permanent corrective actions
    • Responding to customer concerns/issues (written and verbal)
  • Train employees on quality issues as needed.
  • Develop, document, and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, production, and quality through layered process auditing and scrap reduction.
  • Read and interpret GD&T and apply that knowledge as needed.
  • Perform problem-solving techniques and process capabilities using statistical techniques.
  • Be familiar with supplier PPAPs and procedures.
  • Support IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree required.
  • 10–15 years of quality and/or quality engineering experience in the automotive industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to resolve conflicts and handle issues involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
