Quality Engineer

About the role

The Quality Engineer assists in planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s quality management systems, policies, documentation, data, and customer-specific requirements. This role ensures manufacturing and engineering processes adhere to standards by monitoring product quality, identifying issues, and recommending solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform product and process audits, including inspections, certification, and testing procedures, to verify product quality before shipment.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of quality requirements, inspection sheets, engineering documents, and sampling sheets.
• Use precision measuring tools, workmanship standards, visual inspection, and blueprints to identify discrepancies; may include calibration activities.
• Document deficiencies and track repetitive issues to resolution.
• Troubleshoot daily issues, determine root causes, and initiate problem-solving procedures involving relevant departments.
• Assist Manufacturing and Design Engineering during pilot runs to identify undocumented quality requirements or test procedures.
• Maintain the customer complaint system, including investigations, meetings, and customer communications/visits.
• Support internal audits and annual ISO 9001 surveillance/re-certification audits.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and recommend process enhancements.
• Initiate Corrective/Preventative Action notices to ensure quality processes and products.
• Provide training on product operation or critical information to relevant personnel.
• Assist with continuous improvement projects and special initiatives as approved by the Quality Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related discipline (preferred).
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant Quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in automotive or plastic manufacturing industries (preferred).
• Familiarity with plastics and engineering polymers.

Skills

• Proficiency in quality tools and techniques to assess compliance, trends, capabilities, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment effectively.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint), CRM, and ERP systems.
• Knowledge of SPC and problem-solving tools.
• ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification (minimum).
• Excellent organization, communication, planning, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to present to all levels of an organization and work collaboratively in a team.
• Ability to work under stress and solve problems quickly.
• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt and LEAN experience (preferred).
