Primary skills and responsibilities
- Create, test, and maintain inspection programs for CMM machines.
- Understand CNC programming, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and quality inspection processes.
- Operate and program CMM machines (Manual and DCC).
- Participate in APQP process for gage and fixture design.
- Develop quick change processes for CMMs.
- Conduct quality inspection checks (1st piece, hourly, final, last piece, backward recall).
- Implement non-conforming product hold tags.
- Maintain and calibrate gauges.
- Adhere to safety procedures and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and needs.
- Support continuous improvement efforts in Building 1 and 2 (5S, internal audits, organizational knowledge).
- Document testing and root cause analysis for internal or external problems.
- Create work instructions.
- Provide feedback and review manufacturing issues with QM/ME.
- Lead teams to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Achieve organizational goals by accepting ownership for new requests and addressing issues.
- Ensure parts meet customer and company standards.
- Work on CMM machines using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
- Knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
- Participation in continued education courses as required for new projects and career growth within XL (TQM/CQT/CQE).
- Ability to use CMM software.
- Ability to mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, and fixtures.
