Quality Engineer – Aerospace Materials
Responsibilities
- Continuously improving product quality and manufacturing processes, support production team to troubleshoot production batches of coatings and sealants to ensure FTQ
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional PFMEA sessions with Engineering, Manufacturing, and operations team.
- Create, Maintain and Revise Process Flow Diagrams, Lead and facilitate cross-functional PFMEA sessions with Engineering, Manufacturing, and operations team.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Control plans for all product families and manufacturing processes in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
- Cost savings for the plant by reducing cycle time, improving first pass yield, and reducing scrap using Global quality tools.
- Provide training on quality improvement topics, communicate with internal/ external customers, support new product qualifications and special projects.
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies, manage customer complaints, and monitor quality performance data, and Quality SOP’s.
- Be the subject matter expert for Quality training, review Quality training effectiveness
- Ensure flow down of program and regulatory quality requirements across engineering, procurement, production, and sustainment processes.
- Drive closure and accountability for NCMRs, Customer Complaints, SQARs, CARs, MRB, MOC, and audit findings.
- Collaborate with S&T on batch ticket review, analyze technical documentation, and manufacturing data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Math, Science, Computer Science, or commensurate experience required.
- Certifications such as CQE, CQA, Six Sigma, or Lean are preferred.
- Strong background in aerospace, quality sciences, RCCA, SPC, and Continuous Improvement preferred.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO standards, and aerospace regulatory compliance is required.
About the role
As the Quality Engineer – Aerospace Materials you will support the development, manufacturing, and sustainment of sealants, coatings, and adhesives product lines at the Shelby site. This role is a part of the Shelby Quality Organization and provides subject matter expertise in quality sciences to drive compliance and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle. Through your duties as a Quality Engineer, you will interface with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and S&T teams. In addition, in this role you will also interact with customers and suppliers, to ensure product and process integrity from design through delivery and sustainment.
Requirements
This is an On-site role reporting to the Shelby, NC facility. In this role you will report to the Quality Manager.
