About the role
This “Quality Engineer” role will be based in Austin, Texas, reporting to Crecencio C Zepeda. If Flex’s planned spin-off of its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into SpinCo occurs in Q1 2027, the position will support SpinCo, focusing on digital infrastructure and end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.
Responsibilities
- Maintain quality engineering programs, standards, and improvements within the organization.
- Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
- Devise sampling procedures and design forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Develop and implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and assess cost impact.
- Direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulate data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
- Compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
- Apply PFMEA, control plans, problem solving, 8D, PDCA, root cause analysis, analytic thinking, and data analysis skills.
- Support Product Engineers and Quality Program Managers with customer interfaces on quality-related issues.
- Ensure data availability and integrity for all quality-related data; consolidate and report quality results.
- Initiate corrective action requests as needed and track to satisfactory completion.
- Assist with development and implementation of quality audits.
- Develop, apply, revise, and maintain quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
- Design and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment.
- Analyze reports and returned products and recommend corrective action.
- Establish programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and research equipment and facilities.
- Approve product, process, and equipment qualifications.
- Provide liaison to various regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Typically requires 6 years of experience in engineering within the high-technology electronics industry or a related field.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks including frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Use of the following tools may be required:
- Electronic Assembly: color code, component, schematics; may require various PCB operations.
- Testing: oscilloscope, cable and harness testing, troubleshooting, component testing, logic analyzer.
- Inspection: bare board, systems, components, cable and harness, microscope, measuring tools.
- Mechanical & Electrical Tools: taps and dies, alignment tools, measuring tools.
- Office skills: telephones, data entry, office software including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation packages.
- Demonstrates operations and technical skills and understanding of Flex’s functional standards.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of functional concepts and a solid understanding of Flex policies and procedures.
- Typically requires some knowledge of computerized electronic test equipment and programming.
- Demonstrates advanced functional and technical skills and basic process skills.
- Demonstrates advanced/thorough knowledge of the function and Flex business.
- Typically requires skill in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and overview of the entire test process, and the ability to train others.
- Demonstrates advanced operations, technical, people and/or process skills, as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business.
- Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, industries or functions, and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
