About the role
The Quality Electrical Engineer will troubleshoot and analyze electronic assemblies, diagnose electrical faults, and recommend corrective actions to enhance product reliability and production yield.
Responsibilities
- Perform component-level troubleshooting of electronic assemblies using schematics, test documentation, and engineering knowledge.
- Diagnose electrical faults in production units and field returns using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Analyze circuits to determine expected voltage levels, current paths, and operating conditions.
- Identify root causes of failures and document findings in clear technical reports.
- Support production teams by resolving electrical issues affecting yield, test failures, or functional performance.
- Investigate field returns and warranty units to determine failure mechanisms.
- Work with engineering teams to recommend corrective actions, process improvements, or design changes.
- Develop troubleshooting procedures and diagnostic documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of failure trends and recurring issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to product reliability and manufacturing performance.
- Follow and understand security awareness and phishing policy, including passing tests and keeping training compliant.
- Engage in quality control activities, including maintaining the flow of quality materials, component training, solder training, investigating quality anomalies, and maintaining a clean and organized lab area.
- Contribute to engineering team meetings, provide information and support to FDI team members, communicate and represent the organization to customers and other external sources, establish and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 4-5 years' experience in related field.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience troubleshooting analog and digital circuits at the component level.
- Solid understanding of electrical fundamentals including Ohm’s Law, Kirchhoff’s Laws, and basic circuit analysis.
- Experience using electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to clearly document findings and communicate technical information.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future needs for sponsorship.
- Ability to differentiate between colors.
- Plus, experience in a manufacturing or production support environment.
- Experience troubleshooting power supplies, transformers, relays, or control electronics.
- Familiarity with failure analysis methods and root cause analysis tools.
- Experience working with UL-recognized or safety-regulated electrical products.
- Knowledge of manufacturing test processes and production diagnostics.
