Quality Control System Manager
Salary Range: $145,000–$185,000 / Year, DOE
About the role
This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced Quality Control Manager to take ownership of quality on a large-scale federal construction project at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. You’ll lead the project’s quality control program from the field, working directly with USACE representatives, project leadership, subcontractors, consultants, and testing agencies to ensure every phase of construction meets contract requirements, specifications, and quality standards. This role goes beyond checking boxes. You’ll be in the field observing work, reviewing and managing submittals, overseeing subcontractor documentation, coordinating inspections and testing, and identifying issues before they become expensive problems. The company is looking for a proactive, solutions-driven professional who communicates clearly, works collaboratively, and understands that great quality control requires both technical expertise and strong relationships.
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute the project-wide quality control program in accordance with USACE requirements, contract documents, and established construction standards
- Interface directly with government QA representatives and project stakeholders to maintain alignment, transparency, and timely resolution of quality matters
- Conduct daily field observations to verify work in place meets drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and required quality standards
- Review, manage, and submit project submittals while maintaining accurate documentation within RMS
- Coordinate with subcontractors, QC consultants, and third-party testing agencies to schedule inspections, testing, and required quality activities
- Oversee subcontractor quality documentation and ensure deficiencies, corrective actions, and follow-up items are properly documented and resolved
- Provide direction and delegation to project engineers and collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and field teams to keep quality at the center of project execution
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum 5 years of quality control management experience on USACE or NAVFAC projects with hands-on RMS experience
- Minimum 5 years of quality experience supporting government contracts or government-awarded construction projects
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects valued approximately $5M–$50M, including civil, vertical construction, structural, and MEP scopes
- Strong proficiency with RMS and exceptional technical writing, documentation, and professional communication skills
- Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification or ability to complete recertification within 90 days of hire
- Valid state driver’s license with the ability to meet company driving requirements
