Schedule

This is a night shift position, with hours from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The role follows a rotating 2-2-3 schedule: two days on, two days off, three days on, followed by two days off, two days on, and three days off. Team members will work every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

About the Role

The Quality Control Supervisor will be part of the management team within fairlife, reporting to the Quality Control Manager. Under limited supervision, the QC Supervisor coordinates, administers, and provides all day-to-day quality assurance program activities for the Quality department. The role serves as the collaborative conduit between production and quality departments, assisting with quality-related operations and enforcing safety and sanitation rules.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with and administers the quality systems for the facility, including daily management of the laboratory and Quality Control staff.
  • Aids in continuously improving the administration and interpretation of quality control systems, policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Assists with investigations and makes recommendations regarding product quality issues, providing guidance to management.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and support to peers and subordinates on quality practices, policy interpretation, problem resolution, and compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Assists with the development, management, and implementation of quality programs to ensure regulatory compliance with agencies such as the FDA.
  • Schedules laboratory staff to meet production floor demands and enforces quality programs to reduce off-spec product and financial losses.
  • Implements short- and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for the laboratory staff and management team.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness and supports a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ensures GMP and HACCP compliance by managing interactions between departmental personnel, contractors, and physical plant personnel.
  • Assists the QC Manager and compliance specialist with document control and records review.
  • Performs training needs analyses and coordinates training programs for peers and operators.
  • Assists with new employee orientation for GMP, HACCP, and quality systems.
  • Assists with the development of the annual operating budget.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a science or management-related discipline preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in a consumer packaged goods environment.
  • Previous supervisor experience is preferred.
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) training (will be provided if needed).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • 40-45 hours per week, involving sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Work is performed in an office and laboratory environment, with regular plant audits expected.
  • Ability to work all shifts, including off-shifts.
  • Some physical effort required, including lifting bags up to 50 lbs.

Food Safety Requirements

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and enforce the color-coded container policy in production areas.
  • Perform duties to meet company, customer, and government standards for food safety and quality.
  • Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities related to food safety, quality, processes, or safety systems.
  • Identify and record problems relating to food safety and quality of ingredients, processes, or systems.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming products until deficiencies are corrected.
  • In the event of absence, ensure another employee with the same skill level assumes duties.

Pay

Base pay range: $75,000—$85,000 USD, depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and other benefits is offered, dependent on the position.

Position location: Webster, NY. Reports to: QC Manager. Travel requirements: minimal; less than 10%. This is an exempt position.
