About the role

This is a 6 month temporary position with part time hours.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze quality control data to ensure laboratory results are within established quality guidelines.
  • Investigate laboratory results outside of guidelines and develop corrective actions.
  • Coordinate quality control procedures and programs with client and laboratory personnel.
  • Train laboratory personnel on quality control systems, correct media preparation, and proper analysis procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Initiate action to prevent or minimize departures from the quality system or test procedures.

Requirements

  • A general knowledge of microbiology or chemistry, generally obtained from a related degree or job experience.
  • A basic knowledge of food science.
  • A broad knowledge of laboratory procedures and policies.
  • A general knowledge of personal computer software and basic data entry skills.
  • Physical dexterity to prepare plates for sample analysis.
  • Strong analytical abilities to troubleshoot problems and ensure the accurate completion of analysis procedures.
  • Developed interpersonal skills to build interdepartmental relationships.
  • Planning skills to ensure that analysis tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Oral and written communication skills to write special reports and work with laboratory personnel on quality issues.

Pay

$21.50 - $24.50 hourly USD
