Quality Control Specialist I
About the role
The Global Supply Chain Department, and PCR Quality Control Group, is seeking a Quality Control Specialist I to support manufacturing activities. The role involves routine testing and logistical activities in the PCR Quality Control group, executing core laboratory testing using qPCR, Real-Time PCR, and droplet digital PCR, SDS-PAGE, and other lab techniques. Duties also include assisting with laboratory and general maintenance to comply with ISO13485 regulations.
Responsibilities
- Execute routine testing on assigned batches and document results in SAP for review and product release.
- Attend daily Tier 1 meetings to report on safety, quality, delivery, and inventory updates.
- Contribute to timely product release to meet business goals by completing assigned tasks on time.
- Communicate technical issues and concerns promptly to establish root cause and move the process forward.
- Cross-train on various processes to learn new lab skills and support equitable workload distribution.
- Identify areas for improvement in QC processes and execute projects to implement changes.
- Participate in training on new product implementation projects and transfer robust processes for future QC testing.
- Maintain lab cleanliness, 5S, and a safe work environment.
Requirements
- A degree in Biology or a related field, or equivalent working knowledge of PCR techniques or biology lab techniques.
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing quality control, performing analysis in chemistry, biochemistry, or life sciences.
- Experience in GLP and GMP environments.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite, ERP systems, and SAP.
- A willingness to learn new processes, embrace challenges, and adapt to unexpected changes.
- The ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and communicate effectively.
Qualifications
- Education: A degree in Biology or a related field is preferred, or a working knowledge of PCR techniques or biology lab techniques is acceptable.
- Work Experience: 2+ years in manufacturing quality control environment performing analysis in chemistry, biochemistry, or associated areas of life sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous laboratory experience in GLP and GMP environments (Good Laboratory Practices & Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite, ERP systems, and SAP.
- A willingness to learn new processes, embrace new ideas and challenges.
- The ability to flex and adapt to unexpected changes in assignments or testing schedule.
- The ability to work amongst a large and diverse team and communicate effectively.

Pay
The estimated base salary range for this position is $68,640 to $83,100 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
Schedule
This position must be based in Hercules, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.
