Quality Control Receipt Inspector
About the role
The Quality Control (QC) Receipt Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that all incoming materials, components, and equipment meet the stringent quality, safety, and regulatory requirements of a nuclear industry manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for performing detailed inspections, verifying documentation, and ensuring full traceability and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and procurement specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform receipt inspections on incoming materials, parts, and equipment to verify conformance with purchase orders, technical specifications, drawings, and nuclear quality requirements.
- Review and validate supplier documentation, including Certificates of Conformance (CoC), material test reports (MTRs), calibration certificates, and other quality records.
- Conduct visual, dimensional, and identification inspections using calibrated tools and approved inspection methods.
- Verify traceability of safety-related and nuclear-grade materials in accordance with site-specific quality programs.
- Document inspection results accurately in the quality management system, including nonconformances, discrepancies, and acceptance records.
- Segregate and control nonconforming items, initiate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), and support follow-up actions with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and quality assurance to resolve technical issues and ensure proper disposition of inspected items.
- Maintain compliance with all nuclear safety, environmental, and security protocols, including proper handling of controlled materials and sensitive information.
- Participate in audits and assessments related to supplier performance, material traceability, and quality program effectiveness.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to strengthen inspection processes and documentation accuracy.
Requirements
- Experience in quality control, inspection, or material verification in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of DOE or nuclear quality assurance standards.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measurement equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Able to work in a controlled, safety-critical environment with strict procedural compliance.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
