TSC’s Systems Production and Transition Division in Huntsville, AL is seeking a motivated Quality Control Mechanical Inspector with a focus on military systems, specifically supporting military radar and communications hardware.

About the Role

This position supports the TSC Production group by inspecting incoming fabricated metalwork and assemblies, including cables from suppliers. The role involves performing in-process and final inspection of higher-level assemblies, documenting results, and preparing nonconformance reports. The ideal candidate promotes continual improvement and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Additional quality duties may be assigned as part of the Quality team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct incoming inspection of mechanical assemblies and components
  • Log inspection results to track metrics
  • Document and process nonconforming parts to ensure containment and proper disposition
  • Support first piece and first article inspection per AS9102 and source inspections, as required
  • Create material return notices to initiate return of damaged, defective, or nonconforming parts to suppliers
  • Conduct internal audits

Requirements

  • Knowledge of CMM operation and programming
  • Experience reading and understanding complex engineering drawings
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 Quality Management Systems (strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of PLM, PDM, and configuration control processes
  • Knowledge of Costpoint or similar ERP systems for entering quality inspection results
  • Experience working in a quality team environment with suppliers, engineers, and program managers

Skills

  • Passion for inspecting highly complex components using state-of-the-art equipment
  • Blueprint reading skills, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standard
  • Familiarity with complex inspection methods and material behavior (e.g., thermal expansion calculations)
  • Proficiency with precision hand tools, gages, calipers, micrometers, and height gages
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight
  • Dependable with a verifiable work history
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to accurately maintain company records and documents in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with others
  • Experience with basic mechanical and dimensional inspection (a plus)

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field with 5 years of mechanical inspection experience, or
  • 7 years of mechanical inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
