Quality Control Manager - Heavy Civil Construction with AIS Infrastructure

About the role

This Quality Control Manager position focuses on a coal ash remediation and landfill cell closure project. Experience with clay liners and/or geomembrane liners to prevent leaching is essential. The role ensures adherence to quality standards and protocols in construction and industrial services projects, maintaining the quality of deliverables, customer satisfaction, and a culture of safety and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement quality control plans, procedures, and guidelines for heavy civil construction projects.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Coordinate, oversee, and document soil and concrete testing.
• Identify and address quality issues, non-conformities, or deficiencies in construction processes, materials, or workmanship.
• Collaborate with project teams to establish corrective actions and preventive measures to improve quality performance.
• Review and maintain up-to-date project documents to ensure alignment with quality requirements and accurate records of work completed.
• Provide guidance and support to project teams regarding quality control practices and requirements.
• Conduct training sessions to enhance understanding of quality standards and procedures among project personnel.
• Monitor the implementation of quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
• Generate reports and documentation to track and communicate quality performance metrics.
• Participate in quality-related meetings and provide input to enhance overall project quality.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a QC Manager, Superintendent, or Project Manager in construction quality control management.
• Familiarity and experience with clay and/or geomembrane liners to prevent leaching.
• Ability to manage subcontractors and/or teams of 2+ people.
• In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
• Familiarity with relevant quality control tools, equipment, and software.
• Strong knowledge of quality control principles, methodologies, and best practices in construction and industrial services.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is highly preferred.
• Preferred experience in landfills, geosynthetic/clay liner systems, earthworks, concrete structures, and HDPE piping.
• Preferred ability to utilize Procore and Unifier data management systems.
• Familiarity and experience with coordinating and monitoring soil and concrete tests is highly preferred.
• Relevant certifications in quality control or quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Manager, Certified Quality Engineer, CQM-C) are preferred.
• Experience working with USACE is preferred.
