QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR II

Based in Southern California near Los Angeles International Airport, the company comprises Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS), and Marvin Land Systems (MLS).
About the role
Perform thorough product inspections requiring basic GD&T knowledge and other Quality Control applications. Ensure compliance to MEC requirements, quality standards, drawings, specifications, and contractual obligations. Document inspection results and report findings in SAP, collaborate with the quality control team, and contribute to maintaining high product standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform independent inspections, validations, and/or verifications of internal/external components to ensure compliance with Marvin Engineering processes, procedures, and contractual obligations.
- Inspect product using basic hand tools and bench inspection equipment, interpreting basic GD&T.
- Conduct visual inspection of mechanical assemblies, soldering, and paint finishes in accordance with engineering requirements.
- Review non-destructive test documentation and supplier documentation per MEC Purchase Order.
- Generate inspection reports in accordance with MEC policy.
- Identify and segregate suspect non-conforming material and generate Quality Notification (QN) per MEC Policy.
- Perform first piece validations in support of all manufacturing areas.
- Witness and validate fastener applications, including torque, rivets, and sealants.
- Support all QC areas, including receiving inspection and in-process inspection.
- Perform higher-level inspections under supervision, with exposure to 3D model-aided inspection.
- Interface with suppliers and/or internal customers.
- Perform source inspections at supplier facilities as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Certification in GD&T required and/or 3 years of basic GD&T inspection experience.
- Five years minimum experience as a QC inspector.
- Certifications in relevant American Society for Quality (ASQ) topics or a college degree in Engineering or other technical fields (a plus).
- Certificates of Completion in Quality Assurance (e.g., CSUDH Quality courses) (a plus).
- Above-average understanding of hardware blueprint reading (notes, features, views, tolerances) and knowledge of specifications and contractual requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic math skills.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Proficient in basic computer tasks and typing; familiarity with SAP (a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.
Work Environment
- Medium-to-large inspection laboratory/machine shop environment.
- Fast-paced setting with moderate noise levels.
Pay
Base salary range (Inglewood only): $53,800 to $67,700.
Travel
This position may require up to 25% travel to support source inspections.
