Quality Control Inspector

About the role

Perform in-process and final inspections of electro-mechanical assemblies. This typically includes various mechanical assemblies, piping, brackets and wiring, lighting, boxes, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspection activities in accordance with established quality plans, engineering specifications and procedures in order to verify that the product meets specified requirements.
  • Must be able to effectively use, read and interpret a tape measure.
  • Performs incoming, in-process and final dimensional and visual inspection of materials and assemblies to determine compliance.
  • Electronically records the results to provide evidence that the product has been inspected, whether accepted or rejected.
  • The Inspector is required to handle any nonconforming product in accordance with established work instructions and other quality system procedures.
  • Must be able to read and interpret Engineering drawings and Customer specifications.
  • Must have weld inspection experience. AWS D1.1 experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Nondestructive Examinations and Powder Coating.
  • Inspection will work closely with Manufacturing to ensure full compliance to Engineering requirements.
  • Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on-site, ability to work overtime.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others, able to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks concurrently, able to work in a fast-paced environment, able to interchange with others in the department.
  • Mag Particle Inspection, preferred.

Competency or Position Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write simple correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, etc. are preferred.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED. Experience with calibration of inspection and test equipment preferred.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 environment preferred.
  • Non-Destructive Testing Certification preferred.
  • Ultrasonic Testing Inspector must have prior Level II experience. Preferably UT certified.
