About the role
Hensel Phelps is seeking a Quality Control Engineer (QCE) to join our team. This role is contingent upon successful completion of specified background checks and physical exams.
Responsibilities
- Interface directly with the owner’s quality assurance team on all quality-related issues.
- Be technically experienced and capable of comprehending the specifications, standards and code requirements for all disciplines.
- Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings and preparatory meetings.
- Perform all initial and follow-up inspections and manage the punch list process.
- Inspect trades to verify compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
- Initiate deficiency reports and track their resolution to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
- Work closely with trade partner quality control personnel to understand their QC procedures.
- Review trade partner's quality control logs and ensure corrective actions are implemented, when required.
- Interface with third party testing agencies, as necessary.
Requirements
- A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
- A valid Driver’s License.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow-up skills both internally and externally.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local reporting requirements and regulations.
Qualifications
- Moderate physical work classification and demands.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Periodically walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, reading/seeing, speaking, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and finger/type.
- Constantly operating a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, phone, computer, and computer printer.
- Frequently communicating with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office administration.
- Constantly computing, analyzing, and conceptualizing mathematical calculations and formulas.
- Regularly sitting in a stationary position in front of a computer screen.
- Constantly reading written communications and viewing mail submissions.
- Will also need to read blueprints and take/verify field measurements.
- Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures.
- Frequently exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
