About the role
Performs a wide range of duties related to the quality control testing of mortgage loans for origination and/or servicing transactions. Responsible for conducting post transaction servicing reviews, and does not have lending authority.
Responsibilities
- Full loan file review to confirm the transaction meets published Bank and Investor credit policy requirements.
- Reviews all data elements and documentation pertaining to the approval or servicing of the loan or product.
- Review of Bank and various agency product guides and policies, which also requires knowledge of archived or dated origination and servicing guidelines as the quality control review is performed on a lagged basis.
- Documents work and research performed. Prepares a clear, concise report of loan level test results including details of moderate and significant findings on a file-by-file basis to be distributed to appropriate internal parties.
- Tracks and escalates trending concerns to QC Manager or Director.
- Completes investigation referrals for submission to Bank Protection upon discovery of any suspicious activity. Assists in any follow up research to assist the investigation.
- Identify and report on issues and trends; escalate for review.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with LOB, Business Control groups and the second and third lines of defense (such as Legal, Compliance, Enterprise Risk and Audit).
- Contribute to customer and client satisfaction and deliver value to internal and external customers.
- Participate in audit and regulatory issue follow-up processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in banking, lending or quality control required.
- Desired degrees: Business, IT, Accounting, Finance and Economics.
- Minimum 1-2 years advanced level relevant servicing transaction related experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the fundamental concepts related to mortgage servicing transactions along with the ability to apply that knowledge in a quality control function.
- Knowledge of the Bank's, Investors' and Government Program guidelines, as well as policy, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of common and standard banking documentation and terminology.
- Ability to work within teams and independently to manage and execute multiple tasks/projects in a dynamic work environment.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with discretion and understanding when confidentiality is needed.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently with a low margin of error.
Skills
