Role Overview
The Mortgage Quality Control Analyst is responsible for conducting Quality Control Audits in compliance with agency guidelines and MSF's Quality Control Plan. Additionally, this role provides support for other auditors by answering questions and offering training as needed. The QC Underwriter and Auditor ensure a high standard of credible and reliable customer service for both internal and external stakeholders, with a strong focus on loan review quality and compliance.
Essential Functions
- Perform comprehensive post-closing quality control audits of residential mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with investor, agency, company, state, and federal requirements.
- Review loan documentation to identify deficiencies, regulatory violations, data integrity issues, and potential risks that could result in loan ineligibility, repurchase exposure, or the inability to sell loans on the secondary market.
- Analyze findings and determine the root cause of defects, accurately documenting observations, conclusions, and supporting evidence.
- Communicate audit findings effectively and in a timely manner with operations staff and business partners to facilitate issue resolution, corrective actions, and process improvements.
- Escalate material findings, suspected fraud, compliance concerns, or trends that may pose significant operational or financial risk to Quality Control Management.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all audit activities, findings, and correspondence within the Company's Quality Control software and related systems.
- Manage multiple audits simultaneously, effectively prioritize workload, and consistently meet established productivity standards and regulatory deadlines.
- Remain current on agency, investor, state, and federal mortgage lending guidelines and participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain industry knowledge and expertise.
- Assist with reverification activities, targeted reviews, special projects, and other quality control initiatives as assigned.
- Identify recurring defects, emerging trends, and process improvement opportunities, and communicate recommendations to Quality Control Management to enhance operational effectiveness and mitigate risk.

- Perform other related duties or projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Mortgage & Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of Conventional, FHA, and VA residential mortgage lending guidelines. Working knowledge of investor, agency, regulatory, and secondary market requirements, with the ability to identify compliance and loan eligibility concerns.
- Systems & Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Experience utilizing Loan Origination Systems (LOS)—preferably Encompass—and the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
- Analytical & Critical Thinking: Strong investigative and risk-assessment skills with the ability to identify recurring defects, trends, and root causes.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Professional demeanor with strong customer service skills to interact effectively with management, investors, auditors, and vendors.
- Organization & Autonomy: Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask, manage multiple priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Discretion & Compliance: Ability to follow written/verbal instructions, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, and successfully pass a background check.
Compensation & Benefits
$59,700–$64,400 annual salary. Mortgage Solutions of Colorado, LLC d/b/a Mortgage Solutions Financial (“MSF”) offers a comprehensive benefit package and PTO (paid time off) for eligible employees.
