Quality Compliance Engineer

With the support of the Quality & Compliance Manager, this key quality engineering role will be the primary representative for strategic compliance programs, ensuring internal partners, processes, and critical suppliers comply with U.S. government defense contracting requirements. This role will develop and enforce key aspects of the organization's quality management systems to maintain compliance, product integrity, and support operational team targets.

Ideal candidates will be quality professionals with strong working knowledge and experience in defense and aerospace quality requirements, and experience developing bridge programs and processes for administrative and manufacturing teams to ensure compliance with government contracting (FAR/DFARS/ITAR) requirements. Strongest candidates will also have some prior exposure to CUI and CMMC program requirements.

Responsibilities

Quality Program Development & Support

• Act as the primary quality liaison between compliance programs and cross-functional teams, including Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
• Develop, implement, and maintain program-specific quality, manufacturing, and procurement plans, procedures, records, and documentation in alignment with contractual and internal requirements.
• Design and continuously improve quality systems, processes, documentation, and training programs that promote consistency, accountability, and regulatory compliance.
• Support risk assessments, gap analyses, and internal or supplier audits to evaluate compliance performance, identify potential risks, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Lead root cause investigations and develop corrective and preventive actions for internal and external nonconformances, customer complaints, and quality-related alerts.

Federal & Contractual Regulatory Compliance

• Review and interpret defense contracts, purchase orders, and supplier quality requirements related to FAR, DFARS, ITAR, CMMC, and AS9100 requirements.
• Establish and maintain internal processes that ensure contractual and regulatory requirements are effectively communicated and flowed down to internal stakeholders, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Support compliance and quality audits by providing appropriate documentation, records, and process guidance.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to ensure quality and compliance requirements are understood, implemented, and consistently maintained.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant Quality Assurance experience within aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of aerospace and defense quality standards and government contracting requirements, including FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and AS9100.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and improve internal and external quality programs that connect manufacturing, administrative, and supplier processes.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the initiative to identify compliance gaps, improve processes, and drive sustainable corrective actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex compliance requirements and effectively communicate and train others across functions.
• Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when reviewing contracts, compliance documentation, quality records, and program status.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience with quality inspection techniques, quality control processes, and quality documentation.
• Familiarity with CMMC requirements and their relationship to quality management systems, processes, and internal/external controls.
• Experience developing, delivering, and facilitating training programs focused on quality, regulatory compliance, and organizational awareness.
• Experience working with ERP systems and quality-related modules or workflows.
